New York Engagement Photography, Sunset in Dumbo-Lesly & Adan

This shoot so far has been one of my favorites! Not to say I don’t love all my shoots, but this one stuck out to me because it was everything I wanted for this couple. Lesly and Adan like most couples told me they don’t photograph well. I think from these photos you can tell the lie detector determined that was a lie! Although they were nervous, scared and subconscious about how they might look, I simply helped by curating just a little bit. I don’t like to pose my couples too much, I’ll give a small amount of direction, but the rest is on the two people in front of me. I love to get them to interact together, to have fun, to almost forget everything exist except for them being here enjoying this moment. Poses are great don’t get me wrong, but I cherish memories and if I can make your session feel like a date night that you won’t forget then that’s a win for me! One of the many reasons I suggest any couple who books me for a wedding to do an engagement shoot with me is because I want to get to know you, your story, what you love about your significant other, how you guys met, and what you guys enjoy. Also it’s kinda like a test drive, since on your wedding day you’ll spend more time with me than almost anyone else so it’s a good idea for us to be comfortable and basically become best friends. I want you to know I’m going to take care of you. :)

For Lesly and Adan, they are an amazing example of two people who admire each other. From how he looks at her, to how safe and free she feels to be with him. I wanted to capture that essence of their relationship, as well as the fact they are foodies. So the hopeless romantic in me instantly started thinking of how this shoot should be more like a date. From enjoying a walk on the pier together, maybe a little dancing, and stealing some ice cream from each other. By doing this they allowed me to get close and be part of their experience.
